Hello 2014! | What are my resolutions?
Firstly, Happy New Year!
In true anti conformist style instead of being at a party or gathering, I saw in the start of 2014 with the company of Charles Dickens and a dog who is scared of fireworks. I think I need to calm down. (Still working on the sarcasm!) It's fine though, I much prefer New Year's Day to NYE at the moment as I hate the idea of being tired and hungover for the first day of the new year. I know, I'm a total granny.
BUT my way does mean that you can get your New Year's resolutions off to a good start. Last year my resolution was to keep a diary, which I did do for a few months. I guess in a way I've kind of kept an online diary through this blog! This year I've decided to make my resolutions a bit easier to stick to. I have my four massive life goals (which you can read about in this post here) but I have devised three resolutions too. Too greedy for my own good, me.
1. Start a proper skincare routine.
I've always been quite lazy with my skincare. I tend to wash my face with water, moisturise and that's your lot! If I'm going somewhere other than lectures or on a night out, I'll put on my BB cream too but other than that, I don't wear many products on my skin. Which is pretty good I guess but I do wear mascara 90% of the time and eyeliner about 50% of the time. So when it comes to removing my make up, I usually opt for Johnson's face wipes. This year however, I plan to start toning and cleansing - properly. I'm not getting any younger so figured it was about time I started to take care of my face a bit more, after all it's got to last me a while! I've started off with something simple: I'm trying out the Calming Cleanser and Refreshing Toner from the Superdrug range as they are against animal testing and they're really good value for money too!
2. Get back into yoga.
I used to be quite good at following YouTube yoga vids and stretching 3 or 4 times a week. During the summer I made the fatal error of leaving my yoga mat out in the garden. Unsurprisingly it got ruined and since I got rid of it, the impetus just hasn't been there. So on NYE I popped to Asda and bought a new yoga mat and some stretch bands too, all for £10. Time to get flexy!
3. Write more!
Not exactly hard given that I'm in my last stretch of university and I have a 10,000 word dissertation to complete! I'm talking more about writing for my career though, so that means more blogging, more creative writing and more searching for people to send my work to!
So there we have it, three relatively simple resolutions that are perfect for me. Anyone else make any resolutions?
