Fashion & fireworks

Morning everyone, any one else super tired after watching the Closing Ceremony last night? It was a bit of an odd collaboration in my eyes but brilliant all the same. I am a little sad to see the Olympics go but it's only 16 days until the Paralympics so that's really exciting too.

I got a tad too excited when all the models were revealed - with Stella designing Team GB's kit and London being the big city that it is, fashion has definitely been a part of the games and I thought Kate Moss looked absolutely fantastic. By including a segment on British fashion, I think it really cements the fact that athletes aren't just sporting machines and that female athletes in particular can be interested in fashion and aren't just butch, muscular women. I love sport and fashion so it was brilliant to see them side by side in front of such a big audience - genius.

As a 90s kid, I was half excited and half apprehensive when I heard the Spice Girls were performing but it was surprisingly enjoyable! I was a little worried it would be a little cringe worthy but I think they proved that girl power is even bigger than it used to be and here's hoping it gets even bigger! This Olympiad has been great for women - so many firsts that will go down in women's history and the homage to the Suffragettes and the Pankhursts in the Opening Ceremony was wonderful.

You definitely can't fault Jessie J's enthusiasm and vocal ability - I thought she performed amazingly and I've loved her music from the first time I heard her. I wasn't as keen on her outfit, mostly because I wouldn't personally wear it but I think she pulled it off really well. The glittery jumpsuit is definitely bang on trend and I really hope to see lots of glitter-based pieces in AW12 - they were in abundance during the dance sections of the ceremony.

Overall, I'm so glad that the Olympics came to London and judging by my Facebook and Twitter timelines, so is everyone else!
