Plenty of Parentheses

Just a quick post to certify my new found love for all things white. I was encouraged to pair white nail varnish with my floral playsuit by one of my housemates and I am so glad I went with her suggestion! I had tried white nails before, using a Natural Collection nail tip whitener in place of a proper bottle of nail varnish. It worked to an extent but was always quite difficult to paint evenly because the consistently felt much thicker. So of course I opted for a faithful bottle of Barry M and it's been a brill buy so far.

White nail varnish is definitely in fashion at the minute; I'm loving seeing it in magazines and whilst watching Sweat the Small Stuff (I'm weirdly obsessed with Nick Grimshaw), I saw Foxes sporting some lovely white nails too. It's such an easy way to freshen up an outfit and I love how the white really pops against my skin tone. The only problem is that when it chips, it seems more noticeable than with some other colours but it's definitely one of my favourite shades for spring so far.

I, like many people, am not a massive fan of feet. They're weird looking for starters, not to mention the fact that I have one wonky toe from when I broke it aged 8 and that my feet are so flat I could pass for a platypus. I kid you not. So when I bought some lovely heeled wedge sandals last year, I braced my foot fear and showed the toes. Unsurprising, I hated every minute. Cue today's dilemma. I'm planning on wearing this playsuit to an event next week and had planned to pair the aforementioned wedges with it. But the mere thought of flashing foot flesh is enough to make my toes curl. So I took to the internet's new fave femme fetale for advice. If J Law does it, then it's cool to copy right?

As the pictures demonstrate, I am of course talking about pairing socks with shoes. Peep toe wedges to be exact. I know, I know, it screams fashion faux pas. But just at how effortlessly J Law pulls it off. It's quirky without being too cutesy: my MO exactly. So I ran down to Primark, picked myself up a pair of white frills (and naturally took a detour to Superdrug for some white nail varnish to match).

(If I never blog again, it's because the fashion gods have struck me down with lightning. You know, for rocking socks when I shouldn't be. It was nice while it lasted...)

Dungarees - Boohoo
Top - Primark (Menswear)
Necklace - New Look
There's something about wearing dungarees that makes me feel incredibly young again. I bought this pair from Boohoo about 4 years ago and like to kid myself that they still fit. (They really don't.) I don't usually wear denim this light but I actually like how versatile this shade is - it works just as well with a black top underneath as it does with a white one. I am after some darker denim dungarees however (not to mention ones that don't feel as small!) I tried (and very obviously failed) to roll my sleeves here which is ironic really because I used to ridicule my brother for doing this about a year ago and now it's all the rage!

I also love wearing this necklace, I'm on a real geometric jewellery obsession at the moment. I've been browsing online for triangular shaped earrings and even purchased some geometrically shape temporary tattoos which I'll be featuring in another post! This necklace is great because it's not too chunky or too long so can be worn easily during the day. It's like a statement necklace with a hint of subtlety. Just my cup of tea.

OFF fashion, how to wear geometric jewellery

New Look - £10
With my dissertation deadline being the 7th May (ahhhhh!) I haven't had time to properly plan my Role Model Monday. So instead, I pre-planned this post on my favourite spring time colours. I'm on a bit of a blue hue at the moment, anything from minty green to baby blue. I bought this jumper in the New Look sale a while ago and it's so easy to wear - it goes with everything. Or at least, I pretend it goes with everything so I get to wear it all the time. I've also been wearing a lot of muted blues on my nails, using what I've come to call my little springtime spectrum.

I am in love with this new Urban Outfitters nail varnish - the perfect colour for early spring. My little brother was lucky enough to take a trip to New York in February and brought back an amazing snowglobe and this Gotta Have It nail varnish as a belated birthday present. I gotta say, boy did good!
