The Mocking Jade | Upcycling & Decorating | Part 2

Is it just me or does having Instagram make you unhealthily obsess over interiors? I blogged earlier in the week about my upcycling project to spruce up some old chest of drawers, but I quickly got on a bit of an interior design hype. Although perhaps that is a bit of an overreach; I didn't actually design anything per se but I do now have a lot of strategically placed fairy lights that give my bedroom the kind of Parisian writer ambience I've been actively trying to create.

My favourite corner - surprise, surprise - is the one where I produce most of work. Every writer needs a good workspace and I adore my little desk station. I bought a glossy white desk in the sale and my parents surprised me with a little £8 fold away white chair to accompany it, all to match the recently upcycled drawers. To create more space my Dad fixed my TV onto wall, which unfortunately left a few unsightly cables hanging down in front of my desk. Cue the strategic placing of lights!

The corkboard is also terribly old and coming apart a bit on the sides, so I worked the lights around the wires and the board to create a cosily lit corner. During the day the desk reflects all the natural light from my window and then come evening, the fairy lights create the softest glow that I've found is actually really conducive of creativity. Which will be good when writer's block inevitably comes a-knocking once more. Ugh.

There are still a few things I want to change and add in, but for now at least, I think my bedroom is finally finished and furnished. And not to be biased, but I really do love it.
